A few weeks back I received a notification on Twitter which read that I had been nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award, at first I did a double take, and then as I realised that it was no mistake – I felt so moved by this lovely gesture from Becky over at Bringing Up The Berneys
I remember publishing my first blog post not very long ago, as I pressed submit I genuinely thought that no would ever read my pages, so to be recognised for an award has just surpassed my expectations so much, thank you Becky.
You might be wondering, what is the Mystery Blogger Award? I was previously unaware of it too, but Okoto Enigma came up with the idea of nominating fellow bloggers who in turn nominate others and so on, with the aim of shining a light on inspirational and undiscovered blogs whilst building a strong blogging community along the way. How lovely!
There are a few rules for the Mystery Blogger Award nominees, which are:
- Put the award logo/image in your post
- List all the rules
- Thank whoever nominated you & leave a link to their blog
- Mention the creator of the award & provide a link as well
- Tell your readers 3 things about yourself
- Nominate 10-20 people
- Notify each nominee by commenting on their blog
- Ask nominees any 5 questions of your choice, with a weird or funny question (specify)
- Share the link to your best/favourite post of yours
So here goes…
Three things about me:
- I once jumped off a 40ft cliff into the Caribbean Sea
- I like eating cold spaghetti straight from the tin
- Justin Bieber is my guilty pleasure
Becky’s Five Questions:
What made you decide to get into blogging – and what’s kept you going?
No beating around the bush here, I decided to start blogging after I had a breakdown in 2016. I had always fancied taking to blogging after I had found blogs to be an immense help to me as I took to motherhood, but it was as I was getting back on track after months of depression that finally gave me the push and drive to take the plunge to start my blog. I believe that one of the main reasons why I was able to come out the other side of depression was because I opened up to people about it, it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but it was the best thing I ever did too. And the thing is, I know there are still so many more people feeling alone and afraid to speak up about what they are going through, so it is that which gives me the determination and passion to share my story and to keep on doing so, because I hope that in doing this it will help others to see that it is okay to admit if you are not okay, and that suffering in silence is not necessary.
What three things couldn’t you live without and why?
Without a doubt, my husband and 2 children. Before we had our children I remember saying to my now husband, as long as I have you I don’t need anything else, and the same goes for our children. Material things and money will never ever compare to how much my family mean to me, apologies if that’s so cliche but it’s true.
Are you a morning or night person?
I am definitely a morning person, I am far more productive in the early hours and I can get quite naggy on the nighttime when I am tired.
What and where would your dream holiday be?
Fiji, I came across it online years ago and its stuck in my head as a dream destination ever since. It just looks so idyllic, like a piece of paradise, perfect to escape to! One day maybe, until then I’ll keep dreaming.
Pizza Hut or Dominos?
Hmm now that is a tough one, I think I’m going to go with Pizza Hut.
Link to my favorite post:
My favorite post is End The Stigma, it was a post I didn’t plan to write but instead I felt compelled from within to write down my feelings and that was the result. There is a lot of passion behind the words on that page, I wrote it when I had reached a point that I was no longer willing to hide my mental health anymore, I had had enough of the stigma which surrounds it, bullying me to keep quiet, and I hoped that by standing up to it myself I can encourage others to do so too.
Now the time has come for me to pass the baton on, so here are my 5 questions to you, followed by my list of nominees… (I feel like I’m presenting the Bafta’s)
- How long have you been blogging?
- As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
- What is your all time favorite song?
- Tea or coffee?
- When is your favorite time of year and why?
